Perceptions of Reality

Photographic tellings of extraordinary events

I just arrived at my next artist residency at Salem Art Works! I’ll be staying here until the end of October, so expect a handful of updates in the upcoming weeks. :]

Wow wow wow! What happened?! All these glorious new followers?! What did I do? This is wonderful! How did you all find me?

I plan to eventually get these properly scanned in and perhaps work with a professional on correcting the color casts. Editing has never been my strong point, and I think that is more obvious with color film.

"Hello there young lady. I saw you every morning on the side of the road when I would drive my daughter to school. You had dead animals and I always wondered what you were doing. Now I see you are making art. Very interesting." -Kind words from a man who attended my show in Sweden.

I’m terrible at correcting color casts.

I just want to put this out there that I met this super cool lady ON MYSPACE like 10 years ago and I can’t believe we actually met and worked together in Sweden. I was so happy she volunteered to pose for me. She is the most patient person I ever met, and didn’t say a word about how I wanted every one of her fingers individually posed in a specific way, and how I kept changing my mind every three seconds and she had to pose another way, tilt her head a little more this way, no this way, no too much, no go back, no I like how it was before etc etc. The majority of the work I did ended up being with her. A million thank yous will never be enough!

I want to start showing some of the work I did during my artist residency with ARNA in Harlosa, Sweden. It was an absolute privilege to be there and to meet so many inspiring, creative people. This is my first color work, but I’m starting with this particular image because it’s still within the confines of my comfort zone (Mirrors, mirrors, mirrors!). I did some work that I really like, but am nervous to show because it’s a bit different from what I normally do. But! I will show it none the less! Expect updates in the upcoming days.

Tractor parade followed by classic car show followed by cardamon bun backing followed by horse petting followed by gigantic dinner. A day in the country.

I moved back into NYC today. I’ll be showing you a few photos soon of the art I made during this residency. I’m a bit insecure about it, since it’s so outside of my comfort zone. But! I’m happy with what I made. :]

Nimis, Sweden.

Seen around Sweden.

Oh my God. Copenhagen is a beautiful, magical city.
